Project 3068 wants to understand the views and experiences of Fitzroy North through the eyes of residents, business owners, employees, students and visitors.

We will be asking you to tell us about your current experience and how the community should accommodate the predicted increase in population over the next 10 years.

With 1000 responses we will have the power to influence future planning by local, state and federal governments. We can make history.

An interim report will be developed and made available after the Survey has closed.

Nicholson Village, North Fitzroy Village - South and North Fitzroy Village - North are the only three shopping precincts in the City of Yarra, without clear guidance on how they should evolve, in place, or in the works.

The Yarra Housing Strategy seeks to direct additional housing to “activity centres” (basically existing shopping strips and commercial precincts) and ex-industrial sites in the general vicinity of those activity centres.
This is in line with long-standing policy across multiple governments to encourage “20-minute neighbourhoods”.

The figure for Yarra that has received a lot of press coverage is that Yarra is expected to have 44,000 more dwellings (houses / apartments) by 2051, which would be an increase in dwellings (and therefore population) of 91% vs 2021 figures (the time of the last Australian Census) by 2051.
